Changing Header and Footer Content
Site header and footers are modified from within the Site Settings area of the Administrator Console. The WYSIWYG editor can be used to create complex headers and footers that include tables, hyperlinks, various fonts and background colours. The default header and footer settings provide a guideline of what can be done.
Page Layouts are used to define how the content of a web page is displayed. ShoutCMS is distributed with several Page Layouts that can be used for landing pages, product listings, article listings, and general content.
(Will there be more in the Install Data?)
The default template is selected when a new page is created, the Page Layout can be changed at any time without losing existing content; however, the location of the content on the rendered page will change. Components of the Page Layout include:
- The Carousel: A group of full-width images that are displayed one after the other at the top of the page below the main menu.
- Feature Summary lists: A Page Layout can contain multiple Feature Summary lists that are used to display the Feature Summary content from other pages on your site. Large, Medium, Small, and List groups are configured from the Page designer, the Page Layout selected determines how these lists are displayed on the page when it is displayed on the internet (rendered).
- Side Menu: The Page Layout defines whether a side menu is visible. The side menu lists sub-elements of the Site-tree to support menu-based navigation. The area under the side-menu is often available for Banners and Featured Summaries.
- Site Banners: The Page Layout determines where site banners are displayed. The definition of site banners is configured from the Banners tab in the Page Editor. These settings can be overridden on a page-by-page basis.
Note: ShoutCMS also supports the integration of Google AdSense. This is discussed in the Integrating External Content section of this guide.
Site Banners are global resources that can be easily placed on multiple pages. Banner groups allow placement of banners on all pages on the site by default. Specific pages can be configured to override the banner groups and/or configure separate banner groups. Banner placement is controlled by the Page Layout used by specific pages.
A banner consists of an image and a “click-to” URL. Banners can be added to one or more banner groups which are then placed onto pages based on the Page Layout definitions. When multiple banners are added to a banner group they are displayed randomly giving a dynamic look to your website.
Click-through traffic is tracked by ShoutCMS and can be reviewed and/or reset from the Administration Console. This tracking can be used to assess/report website usage to stakeholders including 3rd party advertisers/sponsors.

Defining Page-specific Banner Settings
The My Account area allows returning customers (any person that has logged on) to access information specific to themselves. Functionality provided here allows users to change their password, contact information, group memberships, administrator messages, newsletter subscriptions, review previous store purchases, or inquire about an active order. The pages that support these functions are secure and available only after the person has successfully logged in.
The My Account information for all contacts is accessible from the Administration Console; this is an essential part of contact management and order fulfillment. More information about contacts and this information is described in the Contact Manager Guide.
